A Little About Me
I am a technology-savvy and hard-working teacher. I enjoy nature, photography, the arts, my intelligent and fun-loving Rhodesian Ridgeback, family time, different cultures, reading, sports, community events and festivals, and learning.
I received my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
I have been teaching for eight years. In that time, I have taught third, fourth, and fifth grade and have been named Teacher of the Year on two accounts. I enjoy using and learning about technology and am a quick learner. I became a teacher because growing up I didn't enjoy school. Most of my elementary school experience involved a boring place full of worksheets and teachers that yelled. When I got to college, something changed. A certain college professor showed me that learning could be engaging. That is when I developed a true desire and love of learning. He showed me that learning can be appealing at any level. It is then that I vowed that I too would be the type of teacher that inspires others. This is something I strive for each and every day, whether I am in or out of the classroom.
I have only one child at the moment, and he is a 115 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback named Simba, who I have taught many fun tricks to, including turning off the lights, playing dead, and holding treats on his nose.
Something Extra:
I am currently working on making a technology portfolio. You can view it and see my progress at: https://sites.google.com/site/jjonesnppmap/
